There’s only one more week until our much anticipated Chettle Makers Market!
This won’t be your usual Christmas market full of plastic tat and pointless presents. We have very carefully chosen a group of around stallholders who will be selling locally crafted and responsibly made goodies as well as second-hand gems and delicious local produce. We’ll also have mulled Chettle cider on offer, fire pits and delicious Ukranian Borscht soup and garlic doughnuts, lovingly cooked by Chettle’s Ukranian resident, Olena.
The event is free, with plenty of parking and will take place in the barns and courtyard next to our shop. Stallholders will be ready to sell from 10am and we will start pack up at around 4pm, on Saturday 7th of December.
Here are some of the amazing local businesses, makers and artists who will be joining us:
Dyppe Beauty
Created by Chettle resident Steph Matthews, Dyppe is an eco-conscious seasonal soap and skincare brand inspired by the wild beauty of Dorset and the British Isles.
Liam O’Brien
Chettle based print-maker and graphic designer Liam O’Brien will have his gorgeous artworks on offer as well as information about his seasonal foraging experiences.
Ian Thackray
Traditional village blacksmith offering bespoke creations, experience days, restoration and more.
Niki Barfoot
Chettle based artist Niki will be showcasing her amazing glass artwork and paintings. She's also a dab hand at interior design, having been at the helm of the Chettle Lodge makeover, so if you want help with paint colours and fabrics for a refurb, then she is the perfect person to help. (She can even do the refurb with her handy husband, Jez)
Leaf & Feather Chettle Eggs
Chettle resident Lizzie of Leaf & Feather Chettle Eggs will be at the market with Chettle eggs for sale as well chicken themed gifts and an opportunity to ‘adopt’ your own bantam or silkie.
The Veg Lady
Our very own Ali ‘The Veg Lady’ will be with us offering an abundance of seasonal veg and exciting farm tour opportunities!
Catherine Rowe Designs
Chettle resident Catherine Rowe will have her whimsical Christmas cards and wrap, accessories and homewares on offer. She is the one who drew the beautiful owl artwork for this Makers Market.

Gillian is a Dorset based artist who creates exquisite stained glass art.

Defashion Dorset
A carefully curated group of Dorset's local clothing culture have come together to celebrate slow, sustainable and ethical fashion. They will be coming to the Makers Market straight off the back of their 'Red Dress' exhibition at Hawkers Farm. The Red Dress is a 14-year, award winning global, collaborative embroidery project. The garment provides an artistic platform for individuals around the world (predominantly women) many of whom are vulnerable and live in poverty, to tell their personal stories through embroidery.

The Dorset Wildlife Trust
The charity will be joining us, offering ways to support their hard work, education and gift ideas. They have many exciting projects going on across Dorset, with Wild Woodbury near Bere Regis being their biggest rewilding success.
Chettle Charity Bake Stall & Food
Chettle residents will be offering delicious home baked goods to raise money for our village hall which is in need of some TLC! We’ll also have mulled Chettle cider on offer as well as delicious Ukranian Borscht soup and garlic doughnuts, lovingly cooked by Chettle’s Ukranian resident, Olena.
