OUR SUPPLIERS

All our fresh fruit, veg, and salad is 100% organic and/or locally sourced. Our philosophy when buying fresh produce is to try to strike the right balance between stocking what's local and in season, and also offering a range of ever day essentials that customers would expect to see (bananas, cucumbers, avocados etc.). Even when buying from overseas, we never use airfreight and work hard to ensure that the farms we work with via our wholesaler share our values and ethos.

Our organic fruit and veg is delivered twice weekly on a Tuesday and a Thursday by Organic North, a dedicated organic fruit and veg cooperative wholesaler, with whom we work closely to ensure we have the freshest and most seasonal selection we can. Organic North but to order, which means we get fresh produce straight from the farms they work with that hasn't been sitting in a warehouse waiting to be ordered, and also means that they have a very low rate of food waste. 

Throughout the year we also have a broad selection of veg and salad grown right here in Chettle courtesy of Ali, also known as The Veg Lady. Our Chettle Grown produce comes in to us throughout the week as and when it's harvested, meaning by the time it hits the store shelves it's rarely more than a couple of hours old. Ali grows all of her veg and salad using agroecological methods prioritising biodiversity, soil health and sustainability, so you can be assured you are getting the most flavoursome, nutritious, and freshest produce money can buy, without it costing the earth.

We also have a dedicated fruit and veg WhatsApp group where we post our delivery lists each week so you know ahead of time what we will have in stock (and also when the delivery has come in so you don't get here too early!). The chat is a closed group where only we can post, so don't worry about it being yet another WhatsApp group where you are constantly bombarded with messages. We also don't use it for marketing unless it is strictly relevant to our fruit and veg. You just get messages each week when we have confirmation from our suppliers of what is being delivered, and then again when it has arrived.
