FAQ's

Chances are you've visited a shop before so you know how one works but if you do need to ask us anything, please have a read of the FAQs first, chances are someone has already asked us.

Ask us something enough times and we'll add it here to stop David going mad.

When did you move?
1st December 2023

What's going to happen to the old shop?
We're not sure. In all honesty it was falling to bits so it's part of the reason we built our new shiny one. We've had plenty of suggestions....cinema, band rehearsal space, sweat lodge, swap shop, repair cafe...the list goes on. If you are desperate to know as soon as we do though, sign up to the newsletter! They get all the goss' first.

Do you have a cafe?
We don't have a cafe but we do serve excellent pies, pasties, and sausage rolls, as well as barista coffee. We also have a range of sandwiches, cold drinks, and ice cream available which you're welcome to enjoy on the many seats/benches/sofas outside.

Why aren't dogs allowed in the new shop?
Because it's new and pretty and dogs are smelly...? No, but in all seriousness we have a lot more open food containers at dog-level now so it's just to stop them sticking their noses in and us having to throw away a whole box of stuff (this may or may not have actually happened on our first day of opening...) You can tie them up outside using our lovely hooks made by the village's resident blacksmith.

Do your staff get paid or are they volunteers?
All our staff are paid (in actual money, not pies).

I love your shop! Can I work for you?
We always post our vacancies in store and on social media so keep an eye out there. Please don't send us CVs out of the blue, we won't lie and say we'll keep them to one side for any vacancies that come up, we just won't read them - sorry.

What's a homity pie?
An open-topped pie made with spud, mature cheddar cheese, onion and a little garlic and a few herbs. Topped with mature West Country cheddar cheese, it's delicious.
